Schaefer Beer 10 Oz Tab Top Can

Schaefer Baltimore 10 Oz Tab Top

Produced by the F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Company out of Baltimore, Maryland, the Schaefer Beer 10-ounce tab top represents a notable regional packaging size from one of America's historic brewing giants. Following Schaefer's expansion into Maryland through its acquisition of the former Gunther Brewery in Baltimore, the company utilized the local facility to supply both Mid-Atlantic regional markets and offshore distribution channels.

The ten-ounce volume provided a compact alternative to standard twelve-ounce packaging and saw significant distribution in southern and Caribbean markets, notably Puerto Rico. Visually, the can showcases the classic Schaefer brand identity, featuring crisp script typography, traditional crest motifs, and distinctive gold striping along the top and bottom rims.

For breweriana collectors, the Baltimore mandatory text makes this piece an interesting study in multi-plant brewing operations. Schaefer packaged beer across several regional facilities, and known variations feature differing mandatory city listings on the seam, along with differing alcohol content statements tailored to specific state and territorial regulations. The Baltimore-attributed 10-ounce container remains a popular focus for collectors of East Coast brewery memorabilia.
