Schlitz San Francisco 16 Oz Pint

The Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company expanded its West Coast presence significantly following the acquisition of the former Burgermeister facility in San Francisco, California. This dedicated regional packaging operation allowed Schlitz to produce and can its flagship lager locally for distribution across the Western market.

This 16-ounce "half-quart" format served as a prominent option for consumers seeking larger single-serving containers. The can showcases the recognizable Schlitz belted globe emblem alongside the famous company slogan, "The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous." The side panel specifically identifies the San Francisco, California brewery location in its mandatory text.

Schlitz was among the earliest major national brewing companies to integrate newly developed easy-open aluminum end technology into its regional packaging facilities. Cans originating from the San Francisco lines reflect this transformative era in beverage container design.

For breweriana collectors, San Francisco Schlitz pint cans are notable artifacts of mid-century regional brewing consolidation. Known variations exist across different production runs from the facility, displaying subtle differences in can manufacturer marks, mandatory text layout, and lid stampings.
