Schlitz Beer Pint Can

Schlitz Brooklyn Pint Flat Top

The Schlitz Beer pint can produced under the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Company designation in Brooklyn, New York, represents a key phase of post-war market expansion for the brewing giant. Known across the country by its iconic slogan, "The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous," Schlitz expanded packaging operations into strategic regional hubs, with Brooklyn serving the dense consumer markets of the Northeast.

This 16-ounce container presents the classic Schlitz aesthetic, centered around the recognizable red and gold belted logo set against a light background. A key point of interest for breweriana enthusiasts is the mandatory brewery address text specifying Brooklyn, New York, distinguishing it from similar designs produced at facilities in Milwaukee, Tampa, or Los Angeles. Packaged as a half-quart serving, pint cans were aimed at buyers seeking a larger single portion than standard cans.

Manufactured by the Continental Can Company, variations of the Brooklyn-labeled pint can exist. These variations include slight adjustments in copyright notices, canning line codes, and marginal revisions to the side-panel text layout. Because packaging lines frequently updated mandatory wording and manufacturing marks, regional address cans like this Brooklyn issue hold substantial historical value for collectors documenting the geographical legacy of American brewing.
