Schmidt Beer Flat Top Can

Schmidt Scenic Northern Pike Flat Top

Issued by the Pfeiffer Brewing Company operating as Jacob Schmidt in St. Paul, Minnesota, this flat top can is part of the brand's celebrated scenic series highlighting the outdoor sporting lifestyle of the Upper Midwest.

The lower portion of the can features detailed wildlife artwork depicting a northern pike leaping from foaming water to strike a fishing lure, framed against a shoreline of evergreen conifers. Running across the lower foreground is the company's long-running marketing slogan, "The Brew that Grew with the Great Northwest".

Schmidt's scenic issues began during the flat top era and became a defining hallmark for the brewery, capturing regional loyalty by showcasing local wildlife, hunting, and fishing scenes. For collectors, cans from this production run are documented across different can manufacturers, exhibiting minor printing variations in metallic trim and mandatory text placement.
