Schmidt Beer Flat Top Can

Schmidt Beer Mallard Scenic Can

This 12 oz flat top can represents one of the celebrated wildlife-themed containers issued under Associated Brewing Company (doing business as Jacob Schmidt Brewing Co.) of St. Paul, Minnesota. Known widely among breweriana collectors for its outdoor sporting imagery, the can features artwork by renowned Minnesota wildlife artist Les Kouba.

The central illustration portrays mallard ducks banking in flight over a wetland marsh with cattails and reeds against a scenic tree line. Above the artwork sits the classic crimson Schmidt shield bordered in gold, while the bottom of the label carries the brewery's longtime regional marketing slogan, "The Brew that Grew with the Great Northwest". Kouba's nature and game illustrations were a hallmark of Schmidt's mid-century marketing, connecting the brand closely with the hunting, fishing, and outdoor heritage of the Upper Midwest.
