Schmidt Beer Flat Top Can

Schmidt Beer Flat Top Overview

Originating from the historic castle-style brewery along West Seventh Street in St. Paul, Minnesota, this Schmidt Beer flat top can features the mandatory statement designating Associated DBA Jac. Sch. (Associated Brewing Company doing business as Jacob Schmidt Brewing Company). This legal text represents a notable period of regional brewing consolidation, reflecting the era when the Jacob Schmidt operations were aligned under the Associated Brewing Company corporate umbrella while keeping packaging and brewing firmly rooted in St. Paul.

Schmidt positioned its brand identity around rugged wilderness and outdoor pursuits, widely celebrated under the slogan "The Brew That Grew With The Great Northwest". The can's graphics prominently display the traditional Schmidt heraldic emblem and bold script framed by distinctive metallic banding.

For breweriana researchers, the "Associated DBA Jac. Sch." mandatory line serves as an essential marker. It clearly separates this release from earlier independent Jacob Schmidt issues and later cans produced after the brand's subsequent acquisition by the G. Heileman Brewing Company. Variations of this can are documented among collectors, with subtle differences observed in can manufacturer stamps, text positioning, and metallic lacquer tones.
