Seven Eleven Premium Quality Beer Flat Top Can

Seven Eleven Premium Beer Flat Top

The Seven Eleven Premium Quality Beer flat top can is a mid-century steel container manufactured for a standard 12-ounce serving. A notable element of the label design is its playful good-luck motif, centered around an upright golden horseshoe framing a flowing blue ribbon banner with the slogan "It's a winner." The main face of the can features bold, oversized blue numerals "7" and "11" flanking the spelled-out brand name in gold lettering, flanked by the script phrase "Premium Quality." Side-panel mandatory text documents the package as brewed and filled by Best Brewing Corporation of Chicago, Illinois.

Seven Eleven was rolled out during the late 1950s to expand the brewery's portfolio of accessible, packaged beers. Capitalizing on dice and luck imagery, the brand was marketed as a winning, high-grade choice for everyday consumers. Like many niche brands launched during the late 1950s, it enjoyed a brief regional production run before vanishing from store shelves following the eventual cessation of brewing operations at the plant.

The Best Brewing Corporation was established in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood along Fletcher Street, with brewing on the site tracing back to the 1880s before formally adopting the Best name in 1891. The brewery survived National Prohibition by producing near beer and cereal beverages, resuming alcoholic brewing immediately after Repeal. In the postwar market, the brewery modernized its operations to produce canned lagers, ales, and private labels. However, growing competition and rapid consolidation across the national brewing landscape led the historic facility to permanently cease operations in 1961.

For breweriana collectors, this flat top can is appreciated for its clean mid-century aesthetic and the novelty of its lucky gaming theme. It serves as a classic artifact of Chicago's post-Prohibition brewing landscape, bridging regional manufacturing history with vintage graphic advertising.
