Seven Eleven The Natural Brew Beer Cone Top Can

Altes Seven Eleven Cone Top Can

The Seven Eleven The Natural Brew Beer Cone Top Can is a mid-century collectible produced by Altes Brewing Company out of San Diego, California. Originally founded and based in Detroit, Michigan, Altes expanded to the West Coast by acquiring the former Aztec Brewing Company facility in San Diego. Cans bearing this regional imprint represent a short-lived era before the California location ceased operations and Altes was subsequently absorbed by the National Brewing Company.

Graphic Presentation and Heritage

The face of the can is dominated by bold "7-11" / "Seven Eleven" branding set against a crisp background, highlighted by the secondary slogan "The Natural Brew." During this era, numeric branding and allusions to lucky combinations were popular marketing devices used to catch the eye of consumers on package store shelves. The combination of clean period typography and the distinct West Coast brewery line makes this can a sought-after piece of California and Michigan brewing lore.

Known Variations

Collectors recognize variations of the Seven Eleven can design. Differences among examples include changes in the color of the primary lettering, subtle shifts in background tone, and variations in the side-panel brewery mandatory text—such as whether the San Diego facility is explicitly listed alongside the primary Detroit plant.
