Seven Eleven The Natural Brew Beer Flat Top Can

Seven Eleven The Natural Brew Can

The Seven Eleven The Natural Brew Beer Flat Top Can is a notable piece of Midwestern breweriana issued by the historic Altes Brewing Company of Detroit, Michigan.

Design and Branding

The can features a bold graphic presentation centered around prominent numeral branding and the company's classic tagline, "The Natural Brew." Designed with a clean two-sided layout, the label utilizes crisp mid-century typography and strong visual contrast engineered for high shelf visibility.

Brewery Background and Variations

Altes was one of Detroit's major regional brewing institutions, well-known throughout the Great Lakes area and celebrated for sponsoring local sports franchises such as the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions. As the company expanded beyond its home state of Michigan, Altes acquired the former Aztec Brewing Company facility in San Diego, California.

As a result of this manufacturing footprint, collectors identify variations in the mandatory text printed along the can's seam. Depending on the canning run, certain versions feature Detroit as the sole municipal credit, while other examples list multiple cities to reflect the brewery's dual-market operations.

Collector Significance

Among can collectors and Detroit brewing historians, the Seven Eleven label remains an enduring favorite. While Altes produced various package styles across its corporate history, this flat top stands as a quintessential artifact from the golden age of Michigan brewing.
