Sierra Beer Cone Top Can

Reno Brewing Sierra Beer Cone Top

Produced by the Reno Brewing Company of Reno, Nevada, the Sierra Beer Cone Top Can is a classic piece of Silver State brewing history. Established in 1903 by German brewmaster Jacob Hook alongside partners John Maurer and Peter Dohr, the Reno Brewing Company quickly grew to become the largest and most prominent commercial brewing operation in Nevada. The brewery survived Prohibition by pivoting to soft drinks, near-beer, and ice production, subsequently flourishing throughout the mid-20th century before ultimately shuttering in the late 1950s.

Sierra Beer served as one of the brewery's enduring flagship labels, celebrated locally across Nevada and neighboring regions. This particular version is distinguished by its vibrant yellow background, which frames the bold brand typography and Western imagery associated with the Sierra Nevada mountain region.

Among breweriana collectors and catalogers, this yellow issue has been the focus of close examination due to subtle manufacturing variations. Several near-identical editions were issued during its production run, and the precise distinguishing features separating certain cataloged entries remain ambiguous and subject to ongoing discussion among specialists. Despite these minor cataloging distinctions, authentic cans bearing this bright yellow aesthetic remain highly prized regional artifacts representing Nevada's mid-century brewing legacy.
