Sierra Beer Cone Top Can

Reno Brewing Sierra Beer Cone Top

Produced by the Reno Brewing Company of Reno, Nevada, the Sierra Beer cone top can represents a notable chapter in Western regional brewing history. Reno Brewing Company was Nevada's primary packaging brewery in the era and one of the few operations in the Great Basin region to can its products.

The graphic presentation of the can showcases a dramatic silhouette of the Sierra Nevada mountain range with stylized sun rays emerging over the peaks, paired with bold typography spelling out "Sierra Beer". This scenic design emphasized the brewery's local heritage and proximity to the Sierra mountains.

Manufactured on Continental Can Company’s Cap Sealed container format, the can features the classic high-profile concave top. Advanced collectors recognize several variations of the label, corresponding to regulatory updates and printing runs. These include variations bearing the federal "Internal Revenue Tax Paid" (IRTP) statement on the mandatory panel, as well as versions produced after that requirement was retired. Color variations also exist across different production batches, notably differing in the pigments used for the lettering and the mountain sunburst.

Because Reno Brewing Company distributed primarily within Nevada and surrounding border regions of Eastern California, its cans were produced in far smaller quantities than those of major national shipping breweries. Consequently, the Sierra Beer cone top is a prominent centerpiece for collectors specializing in Nevada breweriana, West Coast regional breweries, and pictorial cone tops.
