Skol Eastern Premium Beer Flat Top Can

Drewrys Skol Eastern Flat Top

Brewed and packed by Drewrys Ltd., U.S.A., Inc. in South Bend, Indiana, the Skol Eastern Premium Beer flat top can represents an intriguing chapter in mid-century regional contract brewing and brand distribution. While Drewrys is primarily recognized for its flagship Canadian-style ales and Extra Dry lagers adorned with Mountie iconography, the brewery also produced secondary and contracted labels, including the Skol line.

The branding draws inspiration from the traditional Scandinavian toast "Skål" (rendered as "Skol"), a motif popular among American brewers seeking to evoke conviviality and heritage. The visual design is distinguished by bold typography paired with an illustrated beer stein emblem, set against crisp, contrasting backgrounds typical of National Can Company lithography from the era.

Collectors frequently note variations across production runs. Different versions exist across multiple volume formats, including standard and pint sizes. Text variations also appear on the mandatory panels, reflecting regional distribution arrangements such as partnerships with the 9-0-5 Brewing Company. Further differences in text layout, canning marks, and vanity lids distinguish examples found across different packaging runs.

Because Drewrys operated as a major brewing powerhouse in Indiana, cans like Skol Eastern Premium Beer highlight the diverse portfolio produced at the South Bend facility beyond the core Drewrys marque, making it an appealing focus for collectors of mid-century graphic packaging.
