Skol Eastern Premium Beer Pint Can

Skol Eastern Premium Pint Can

The Skol Eastern Premium Beer Pint Can was produced by Drewrys Ltd. U.S.A. Inc. out of South Bend, Indiana. Known primarily for its flagship Drewrys Extra Dry brand and Mountie-themed advertising, the South Bend brewing operation also canned specialty and contract labels, including the Skol brand.

Background and Distribution

Drewrys established a substantial brewing footprint in South Bend following the repeal of Prohibition, eventually growing to become one of the Midwest's largest regional brewing powerhouses. In addition to canning its core product line, Drewrys handled canning for regional distributors—notably the 9-0-5 retail and distribution network. The Skol Eastern Premium label was distributed under these regional arrangements, serving as an Eastern-style premium lager offering.

Design and Collector Significance

The can features bold, prominent "SKOL" typography alongside heraldic crest imagery and a beer stein illustration. The 16-ounce pint size places it in a popular niche among breweriana collectors, as pint cans were typically produced in much smaller quantities than standard 12-ounce counterparts.

Variations of the Skol Eastern Premium can are known to exist, exhibiting minor differences in mandatory brewery text, distributor notation, and bottom-rim content captions. Because of Drewrys' midwestern manufacturing legacy and the appeal of odd-size flat tops, the Skol pint remains a sought-after piece of Indiana brewing memorabilia.
