Stag Premium Dry Pilsner Beer Flat Top Can

Belleville Stag Flat Top Can

The Stag Premium Dry Pilsner Beer flat top can represents an important chapter in Midwestern brewing history following Carling Brewing Company's acquisition of the historic Griesedieck Western Brewery in Belleville, Illinois. The Belleville facility was renowned as the long-standing production home of Stag Beer, a major regional staple throughout Southern Illinois and the greater St. Louis metropolitan market.

When Carling expanded into Belleville, the company continued packaging Stag while modernizing distribution. The can design prominently showcases the brand's signature antlered stag mascot set against crisp mid-century graphic paneling with bold typography highlighting the "Premium Dry Pilsner" branding.

For breweriana collectors, this Carling-issued flat top is particularly notable for its production variations. As Carling expanded its decentralized network of breweries across North America, cans were printed with varying mandatory text panels and facility location listings alongside Belleville. Subtle variations also exist in the manufacturer marks from container makers such as the American Can Company and Continental Can Company.

Representing the deep brewing roots of the Belleville area, this can remains a key acquisition for collectors documenting Illinois breweriana and mid-century regional packaging history.
