Sterling Premium Pilsner Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Evansville's Classic Sterling Can

Produced by Sterling Brewers, Inc. in Evansville, Indiana, this 12-ounce container represents a cornerstone of brewing heritage in the Ohio River Valley. Sterling stood as one of southern Indiana's most prominent industrial brewing operations, anchoring its production at the historic Fulton Avenue facility and maintaining a major regional presence across the Midwest and upper South.

The graphic presentation features classic Sterling trade dress, characterized by bold script lettering, bright metallic backgrounds, and clean heraldic accents. Over the course of the label's history, packaging often highlighted celebrated promotional taglines associated with the brand, such as "Aged That Extra Month" and "Have Yourself a Sterling Time".

For breweriana collectors, variations exist across production runs. As packaging adapted through corporate transitions—including the era involving Associated Brewing Company and later consolidations—fine-print details on the container shifted. Variations can be identified by differences in mandatory brewery city listings, can manufacturer stamps from fabricators such as the American Can Company and Continental Can Company, and subtle modifications to statutory side-panel typography.

Representing a hallmark of Evansville packaging, this can remains an essential artifact of Indiana industrial brewing history.
