Stroh's Bohemian Style Beer Flat Top Can

Stroh's Bohemian Style Flat Top

Produced by The Stroh Brewery Company in Detroit, Michigan, the Stroh's Bohemian Style Beer Flat Top Can represents a classic artifact from one of the Midwest's most prominent brewing dynasties. Stroh, founded by Bernhard Stroh in 1850, grew into a major industrial force in Detroit while retaining family control for generations.

Design and Visual Elements

The can features an unmistakable palette of metallic gold, deep red, black, and white. Front and center is the ornate Stroh family crest, depicting lions flanking an elaborate shield beneath an imperial crown. Bold, stylized lettering presents the brand name "Stroh's" framed over the "Bohemian Style Beer" designation.

The can also incorporates the long-standing company motto, "Served Wherever Quality Counts," emblazoned across the body. Side and mandatory panels note the Detroit origin and frequently highlight Stroh's signature fire-brewing process, a heritage method using direct flame on copper kettles.

Manufacturing and Variations

Manufactured on standard steel bodies, these containers were supplied by major can makers such as the American Can Company and the Continental Can Company. Can collectors document several distinct variations across production runs, with differences including:

• Can maker identification marks, including variations bearing the oval "Keglined" logo versus alternative manufacturer stamps.
• Subtle shifts in the metallic gold ink tone and border outlines surrounding the central crest and brand banner.
• Minor layout adjustments in the placement of volume declarations and brewery address text.

The can remains an enduring symbol of Detroit's rich mid-century brewing heritage.
