Produced in the late 1960s by the Jackson Brewing Company of New Orleans, Louisiana, this straight steel twelve-ounce tab top can features one of the era's most animated packaging designs. The can is wrapped in a dynamic array of tiger illustrations, headlined by a large snarling tiger centered above the brand name, which is rendered in bold tiger-striped lettering. Surrounding the central figure are smaller illustrated tigers alongside collegiate cheer captions such as "HOLD THAT TIGER," "GO-O-O TIGER," and "COM'ON TIGER," printed over a white background framed by orange and yellow bands.

Jackson Brewing introduced Tiger Beer to capitalize on regional sports enthusiasm, particularly aimed at fans of the Louisiana State University (LSU) Fighting Tigers. Tailored for game days, tailgates, and local barrooms, the brand served as a specialty offering that allowed Gulf Coast drinkers to show school spirit through their beverage choice. While it enjoyed strong local recognition during its production run, the brand was discontinued as regional brewing dynamics shifted in the early 1970s.

The Jackson Brewing Company was founded in 1890 by Lawrence Fabacher in New Orleans' historic French Quarter along Decatur Street. Best known for its flagship Jax Beer, Jackson grew to become the largest independent brewery in the American South. The company successfully navigated Prohibition by producing near beer and non-alcoholic beverages before roaring back into high-volume commercial production upon repeal. By the mid-20th century, however, intense competition from national mega-breweries eroded regional market share. Jackson Brewing ceased local production in 1974, and its trademarks were subsequently sold to Pearl Brewing of San Antonio, Texas, while the historic New Orleans brewery building was later repurposed into a prominent retail landmark.
