Tivoli Bock 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Denver's Historic Tivoli Bock Can

The Tivoli Bock 12 Oz Tab Top Can represents a seasonal release from the historic Tivoli Brewing Company of Denver, Colorado. Operating out of Denver's historic Auraria neighborhood, Tivoli was one of the Rocky Mountain region's most prominent and enduring brewing operations.

Brewing Heritage

Bock beer held deep historical roots at Tivoli, tracing back to the brewery's 19th-century origins when early brewer Moritz Sigi introduced his famous "Buck Beer" to local miners and settlers. Continuing the German tradition of releasing bock beers in the spring, Tivoli produced seasonal runs that featured classic goat iconography associated with the style.

Graphic Design

The can design showcases prominent bock graphics, highlighted by an illustrated goat emblem positioned alongside the Tivoli brand name. The layout incorporates rich metallic tones with bold typography characteristic of mid-century packaging. Known variations of the can exist within breweriana archives, showing subtle adjustments in brewery text layout, mandatory statements, and background coloring.

Collectibility

Because bock was brewed as a seasonal specialty rather than a flagship year-round product, Tivoli produced these cans in considerably smaller quantities than its standard lagers. The brewery suffered severe damage during the landmark 1965 South Platte River flood, which accelerated operational challenges that led to the facility's eventual closure before the end of the decade. As a result, Tivoli's tab top cans from this era serve as significant artifacts of Colorado's regional brewing heritage.
