Tube City Premium Quality Beer Quart

Tube City Premium Quality Quart

Industrial Heritage and Regional Pride

The Tube City Premium Quality Beer Quart originates from the Tube City Brewing Company of McKeesport, Pennsylvania. McKeesport earned the nickname "The Tube City" during the height of American industrial manufacturing, driven by the colossal National Tube Works facility along the Monongahela River. Embracing this civic identity, the brewery incorporated the town's industrial moniker directly into its corporate name and flagship packaging.

Rarity Among Quart Cans

While 12-ounce cans from the McKeesport brewer frequently appear in regional breweriana circles, the 32-ounce quart container is celebrated among collectors as one of the standout rarities from western Pennsylvania.

During the post-war era, regional breweries faced fierce competition from growing national brands and major Pittsburgh regional operations. Tube City Brewing relied heavily on local brand loyalty rather than massive advertising campaigns. The 32-ounce quart package experienced a considerably shorter production life than its smaller counterparts, leading to a much smaller number of preserved cans after the brewery closed its doors in the mid-1950s.

Graphic Design and Label Details

The quart can features bold, eye-catching lithography designed around a crisp color palette of rich red, deep blue, gold, and white. Prominently showcasing the "Tube City Premium Quality Beer" banner across the body, the design captures the quintessential post-Prohibition aesthetic of mid-century industrial Pennsylvania. Variations in factory text and layout markings exist across known Tube City canning runs, adding an extra dimension of interest for specialized regional and quart collectors.
