Tuborg Gold Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Carling National Tuborg Gold 12 Oz

The Tuborg Gold 12 oz tab top can represents a notable chapter in American contract brewing, produced by Carling National Breweries, Inc. in Baltimore, Maryland. Packaged under license and authority from Tuborg Breweries of Denmark, this can brought the classic Copenhagen brand to the domestic market.

The can's graphic design emphasizes its European heritage, prominently incorporating Royal Warrants designating appointment to both the Royal Danish Court and the Royal Swedish Court. Finished with traditional export styling and Danish heraldic elements, the layout features a clean, dual-panel display designed for shelf visibility.

For collectors, the can exhibits several known manufacturing variations across production runs. These differences include varying brewery mandatory statements—some listing Baltimore alongside other Carling facilities such as Belleville, Frankenmuth, Tacoma, and Phoenix—as well as differences in metric volume markings, can manufacturer codes, and the introduction of universal product codes (UPC).
