Tudor Premium Quality Beer Flat Top Can

Tudor Premium Quality Beer History

The Tudor Premium Quality Beer flat top represents a notable mid-century offering from the Best Brewing Company of Chicago, Illinois. Situated on Fletcher Street in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood, Best Brewing established itself as a prolific regional producer with roots extending to the late nineteenth century. In the post-Prohibition era, the facility adapted to changing consumer trends by investing in canning lines and producing a portfolio of house labels and contract brews.

The Tudor brand adopted traditional Old English heraldic styling, featuring prominent medieval-inspired typography and crest artwork designed to convey high standing and tradition. Lithographed on steel with contrasting color palettes, the packaging was crafted to catch the eye of consumers in grocery stores and package shops across the Midwest.

Collectors recognize different variations of the Tudor flat top. Label adjustments occurred across manufacturing runs handled by different can makers, including Continental Can Company and National Can Company. Subtle modifications are also found in the brewery line itself, as some cans carry the primary Best Brewing corporate imprint while others cite a dedicated Tudor brewing entity.

Following corporate changes and the eventual cessation of brewing at the Fletcher Street plant, the Tudor label disappeared from circulation. Today, this flat top stands as an enduring piece of Chicago's mid-century brewing landscape.
