Loewer's Gambrinus Brewery plant on Manhattan's West Side during the 1940s, a brief operational window that makes its packaged containers particularly interesting to regional and container collectors alike.

The container carries the Internal Revenue Tax Paid (IRTP) mandatory tax statement. Visually, the two-piece drawn-steel Crowntainer features an angled center panel set against decorative red-and-silver borders styled with ornate scrollwork. The header showcases "Vat Reserve" set within a flourished flourish cartouche in red gothic script. Dominating the center of the label are large "V. R." initials highlighted by stylized spurred serifs, red outlines, and inset diamond accents.
