Valley Forge Beer Flat Top Can

Valley Forge Flat Top Beer Can

The Valley Forge Beer flat top can represents the flagship label of the historic Adam Scheidt Brewing Company, situated along Stony Creek in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Originally introduced in the early twentieth century, the Valley Forge brand carried the brewery through post-Prohibition growth and established it as a major regional power across Mid-Atlantic and East Coast markets.

Manufacturer and Label Characteristics

Manufactured primarily by the American Can Company, the container prominently displays the classic Valley Forge typography alongside the brand's signature star emblem and historical motifs. As the centerpiece of Scheidt's canned portfolio, it shared shelf space with other notable house labels, including Valley Forge Bock and Ram's Head Ale.

Collector Variations and Markings

Breweriana collectors track several distinct production variations of this can, primarily distinguished by statutory notices and manufacturing text:

• Tax Statements: Earlier production examples feature the mandatory "Internal Revenue Tax Paid" (IRTP) statement on the side panel, while later issues omit this federal text.
• State Endorsements: Different versions incorporate specific state regulatory notices, including New York State licensing statements printed near the star or along the seam.
• Instructional Displays: Certain releases feature graphic opening instruction panels alongside standard mandatory brewery copy.

The Valley Forge Beer flat top remains a foundational piece of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania brewing history.
