Velvet Glow Pale Dry Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Velvet Glow Pale Dry Beer Can

The Velvet Glow Pale Dry Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can represents a notable chapter in West Coast brewing history, packaged under the General Brewing Company in Los Angeles, California. While produced by General Brewing, the Velvet Glow name originally gained prominence as a signature brand of Santa Rosa's historic Grace Brothers Brewing Company before being absorbed and canned by General Brewing.

Design and Label Artwork

The can features a distinctive mid-century harlequin diamond pattern surrounding bold, flowing script for the "Velvet Glow" trademark. The striking geometric design is balanced by clean, clear typography denoting the brew as "Pale Dry Beer," creating a vibrant presentation on collector display shelves.

Manufacturing and Variations

Manufactured by the American Can Company, this steel can incorporates the signature "MiraSeam" construction, characterized by a smooth cemented side seam and the classic "A" logo. Known variations exist across production runs, showcasing subtle differences in paint finishes—such as standard enamel versus metallic sheens—as well as minor revisions in text layout and mandatory state disclosures.

Breweriana Significance

Velvet Glow cans from the Los Angeles facility are prized by regional collectors for representing the post-expansion era of California brewing, where legacy Northern California recipes and brand names transitioned to major Southern California packaging facilities. The striking aesthetics have left a lasting mark on breweriana history, with the brand's iconic vintage look frequently cited and referenced by modern heritage revivals.
