Viking Draft Flat Top Can

Viking Draft from Pensacola

The Viking Draft flat top can represents a notable chapter in Florida brewing history, carrying the Sewanee Brewing Company mandatory from Pensacola, Florida. Sewanee operated as an alternate trade name associated with the Metropolis Brewing Company during its tenure at the historic brewing facility on South Barrancas Avenue, originally established by the Spearman Brewing Company.

The can is celebrated among southern breweriana collectors for its striking graphic presentation, featuring bold Norse-inspired typography and thematic Viking artwork. Cans from this Pensacola operation were produced with the cooperation of major can manufacturers of the era, such as the Continental Can Company, and were distributed across regional southern markets.

Collectors recognize variations in the canning graphics and metallic finishes across the Viking line, including differences in mandatory text placement and enamel coatings. Because canned output under the Sewanee designation was limited compared to larger national labels, cans bearing this imprint remain prize acquisitions for specialists focusing on Gulf Coast brewing artifacts and regional brand history.
