Walter's Premium Beer 16 Oz Tab Top Can

Walter's Premium Beer 16 oz Can

The Walter's Premium Beer 16 oz tab top can is an artifact of Colorado's regional brewing heritage, produced by the Walter Brewing Company in Pueblo, Colorado. Founded in 1898 by German immigrant Martin Walter, the brewery grew alongside Pueblo's booming steel mills, smelters, and railroad hubs, earning a reputation as a cultural and industrial staple of Colorado's "Steel City". During the mid-twentieth century, Walter Brewing distributed its products widely throughout the Rocky Mountain region and adjacent Western states.

This 16-ounce pint container was manufactured using straight steel construction and sealed with a tab top closure. The graphic design highlights the classic Walter's branding and "Premium" designation, framed by bold typography and standard Pueblo brewery mandatory text. Like many regional cans from this era, variations exist across production batches, displaying subtle shifts in mandatory statement layouts, font weight, and metallic finish accents.

Walter Brewing Company remained one of the longest-operating independent regional breweries in southern Colorado until broader industry consolidation forced the historic plant to cease brewing operations in 1975. Consequently, 16-ounce cans bearing the Walter's label remain popular with collectors focused on Western breweriana and the industrial history of Colorado.
