Wellington Stout Malt Liquor Flat Top Can

Walter's Wellington Stout Flat Top

The Wellington Stout Malt Liquor Flat Top Can was produced by The Walter Brewing Company of Pueblo, Colorado. Walter Brewing was a prominent regional packaging brewery in the Rocky Mountain West, known for maintaining a diverse portfolio of proprietary brands, including Pikes Peak, Sheridan, and the British-inspired Wellington label.

Design and Typography

The can features an Old English aesthetic tailored to project Old World heritage. At the top sits an intricate heraldic crest complete with rampant lions flanking a stylized shield monogram. Beneath the blackletter brand name, the product designation "Malt Stout Liquor" is accented in red gothic lettering and flanked by ornate silver flourishes.

A notable marketing statement on the front face claims the beverage is prepared "from an old imported English formula with sparkling Colorado mountain water." The mandatory text at the bottom highlights the brewery's heritage, stating "Brewed and Canned By The Walter Brewing Company, Pueblo, Colorado ~ Since 1889."

Collector Notes

The Wellington line was released in several container formats and design iterations over its production lifespan. This specific flat top variant is distinguished by its silver trim accents and specific layout of the descriptive text and mandatory lines.
