Wiedemann Bohemian S.b. Fine Beer 12 Oz Zip/Tab Top Can

Wiedemann Bohemian S.B. Beer Can

Produced by the Geo. Wiedemann Brewing Company of Newport, Kentucky, this can represents one of the Ohio River Valley's most storied regional brewing operations. Founded by German immigrant George Wiedemann in 1870, the Newport facility grew into a massive brewing powerhouse serving the Greater Cincinnati area and broader Midwestern markets.

The "S.B." designation on the label stands for "Special Brew," a long-running brand identifier used by the brewery to distinguish its Bohemian-style recipe. The can face features bold, classic mid-century typography alongside traditional brand heraldry and clean metallic accent banding framing the "Bohemian S.B. Fine Beer" name.

Collectors have documented notable variations across production runs, including minor differences in the brewery descriptor text, bottom lid stamping, side panel mandatory layouts, and metallic background hues. Some issues from this packaging era also feature specialized vanity top lids with printed brand slogans and opening instructions. As a quintessential artifact from Northern Kentucky's brewing history, the can remains a staple piece of Midwest breweriana.
