Design and Branding

This container features the distinctive "SPECIAL BREW" wording displayed above the classic Wiedemann script lettering. The visual layout utilizes the brand's traditional color scheme, combining deep red and white elements with bold period typography and heraldic accents. The mandatory labeling clearly identifies Geo. Wiedemann Brewing Co. in Louisville, KY, reflecting regional packaging operations during this era.

Collector Variations

Breweriana collectors document variations of this can stemming from different production runs. Notable differences include changes in federal regulatory text—such as containers displaying the "Internal Revenue Tax Paid" (IRTP) statement versus later non-IRTP examples—as well as minor typography adjustments and variations in side-panel manufacturer marks.

Historical Context

Wiedemann was a major sponsor of regional sports and entertainment throughout Kentucky and Ohio. Cans bearing the Louisville designation document the company's mid-twentieth-century market presence in Kentucky and remain popular display pieces among regional breweriana collectors.
