Wiedemann Bohemian Special Brew Fine Beer 12 Oz Tab Top Can

Wiedemann Bohemian Special Brew Can

The Wiedemann Bohemian Special Brew Fine Beer 12 oz can represents one of the flagship offerings from the historic Geo. Wiedemann Brewing Company of Newport, Kentucky. As Northern Kentucky's largest and most prominent brewery, Wiedemann held a commanding presence throughout the Greater Cincinnati area and the broader Ohio Valley, making this can a quintessential artifact of regional brewing heritage.

Design and Heritage

The can showcases the classic Geo. Wiedemann branding, characterized by bold lettering for "Wiedemann" alongside the brewery's traditional heraldic seal, which features an eagle positioned above a shield and monogram. Emblazoned with the "Bohemian Special Brew" and "Fine Beer" designations, the graphic composition highlights the legacy established by German immigrant George Wiedemann following the founding of his Newport operations.

During its distribution heyday, the brewery promoted its lineup through widespread regional advertising, frequently utilizing memorable slogans such as "America's Only Registered Beer". The Bohemian Special Brew designation served as the cornerstone of Wiedemann's consumer lineup, enjoying massive distribution across Kentucky, Ohio, and neighboring states.

Production and Variants

Produced for distribution out of the sprawling Newport brewery complex on Columbia Street, this label saw release across multiple canning runs. Known variations exist across different manufacturing batches, featuring subtle differences in mandatory text formatting, canning company trademarks, and seam construction. These variations reflect packaging transitions that occurred during the plant's high-volume operational years leading up to the brewery's acquisition by the G. Heileman Brewing Company.

Today, this can remains a popular staple among enthusiasts specializing in Ohio Valley breweriana, Kentucky brewing history, and classic mid-century graphic label art.
