Wiedemann Bohemian Special Brew Fine Beer Flat Top Can

Wiedemann Bohemian Flat Top Can

The Wiedemann Bohemian Special Brew Fine Beer flat top can represents one of the signature offerings from the historic Geo. Wiedemann Brewing Company of Newport, Kentucky. Located directly across the Ohio River from Cincinnati, the Wiedemann brewery grew from its late nineteenth-century founding into the largest brewing operation in Kentucky and a powerhouse across the Ohio Valley and Midwest.

Design and Collector Significance

The can's graphic presentation features the classic Wiedemann brand iconography, prominently showcasing the brewery's trademark eagle emblem perched atop a stylized 'W' crest. The bold red, white, and gold color scheme frames the prominent "Bohemian Special Brew" script, a flagship label that drove the company's regional popularity for decades.

For breweriana enthusiasts, this can serves as a foundational piece representing Northern Kentucky's rich industrial and brewing heritage. Across manufacturing runs, collectors have identified variations in side-panel mandatory phrasing, canning patent notices, and can maker stamps from companies like the American Can Company. These variations make the label a notable subject for regional can collectors and packaging historians alike.
