Wunderbar Pilsner Beer 12 Oz Zip/Tab Top Can

Wunderbar Pilsner 12 Oz Can

Wunderbar Pilsner Beer is a 12-ounce beer can produced by the Minneapolis Brewing Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Best known as the producer of the long-running Grain Belt line, the Minneapolis brewery distributed Wunderbar as a specialty offering that embraced traditional German brewing heritage.

Design and Branding

The can features bold European-inspired graphic elements anchored by the stylized "Wunderbar" branding. Designed to project an air of exclusivity, the package carries marketing text such as "Private Stock - Limited Supply". The layout incorporates a dual-sided presentation, displaying English phrasing on one face and German text across the reverse to reinforce the Old World pilsner motif. Cans were manufactured on Continental Can Company production lines with metallic finishes framing the typography and central emblems.

Collector Notes and Variations

Among breweriana collectors, Wunderbar cans from Minneapolis Brewing Company represent a distinct chapter in the brewery's regional portfolio. Variations exist across production runs, showing minor differences in mandatory labeling text, closure hardware, and lithographic details.

Specialized promotional examples were also distributed to wholesalers and sales representatives. Certain promotional versions were assembled with pull lids on both the top and bottom ends, emptied through small factory-drilled drainage holes rather than standard consumer dispensing. The can remains a celebrated example of regional packaging from the Minneapolis Brewing Company.
